After two Creative Writing Club colleagues ridiculed and ostracized her daughter for her Christian beliefs, author of Conrad and the Cowgirl Next Door Denette Fretz decided instead of removing her daughter from the pain, she would encourage her with Matthew 5:47a.

She also decided to write a book herself.
And instead of a vengeful plot, Ms. Fretz wrote a story about Conrad, a wanna-be cowboy, who decided to respond assertively to cowgirl Imogene's jabs while not being unkind or disengaging. Conrad actually forgave, and when Imogene had a need, he repaid evil with good.
Conrad and the Cowgirl Next Door is written as a humorous, thought-provoking parable to engage your child's imagination and help you teach the Biblical principle of loving enemies.
The book itself has no direct references to Christianity or religion whatsoever. But you can use the book to discuss the Biblical principles through a very handy guide on the last page of the book.

Like Conrad's bandaging of Imogene's wounds, someone who has hurt your child may one day be hurting. Will your child be ready with "The Mega Ultimate Extreme First Aid Kit" like Conrad was?
I thoroughly enjoyed the humor and witty writing in this children's book and look forward to reading it with my four kids -- teaching this integral Biblical principle in a fun and subtle way.
